There could soon be a new home of the Pierce County jail and sheriff’s department. With a 13-2 vote in favor of continuing the search for a new site that includes a stand-alone 50-bed jail and sheriff’s department, the Pierce County Board of Supervisors furthers a plan that includes remodeling the current jail space—located within the Courthouse Annex—into a justice center. This jail resolution also includes a stipulation that would allow for the “consideration of the courthouse at the jail/sheriff’s department site,” states the Pierce County Herald.
